Noguera: Discipline Disparities Mirror Achievement Disparities – Early Registration Open!

Posted on

Innovative Schools Summit Plenary Speaker Dr. Pedro Noguera says that the students who tend to be victims of disciplinary disparities – those with learning disabilities, those from single-parent households, those in foster care, the homeless, those who qualify for free/reduced lunch and students of color – are the same students who disproportionately under-achieve.  So simply addressing discipline disparities does not go far enough.

Watch Dr. Pedro Noguera discuss discipline and achievement disparities in education.

Sociologist, author and UCLA Distinguished Professor of Education Dr. Pedro Noguera will present a plenary session in Atlanta entitled Creating Conditions for Academic Excellence: What it Takes to Leave No Child Behind.

Now in its 6th year, the School Discipline Conference is a must-attend gathering for principals, deans, teachers and counselors focused on improving academic performance by applying the most current innovations and research to behavior intervention and classroom management. Special focus will be given to supportive, non-exclusionary disciplinary practices.
