“Does anyone ever think of that kid?” – Brian Mendler

Posted on

Brian Mendler knows it’s possible to “get through school and not be great at it – but still be successful in life.”

Watch Brian Mendler explain why educators should look out for “the lowest kid in the class.”

Brian is a certified elementary and special education teacher with extensive experience working with challenging students in a variety of settings. In his training sessions and books, he draws on his own experience as a very disruptive student with severe undiagnosed ADHD and reading difficulties. Brian is the author of several books including That One Kid and The Taming of the Crew. He has also co-authored Strategies for Successful Classroom Management, Power Struggles 2nd Edition, and the bestseller Discipline With Dignity 3rd Edition: New Challenges, New Solutions. He will present a pre-conference session entitled Motivating and Managing Hard-to-Reach, Uninterested and Disruptive Students in Atlanta. He will also conduct the following keynote and sessions:

  • Why Kids Misbehave and What to Do About It
  • Power Struggles Unplugged
  • I Collect Zeros: Strategies for Kids Who Do Nothing

The At-Risk & Struggling Students Conference focuses on evidence-based programs and strategies that educators can use to prevent dropouts and to help students experience success in school. More than 1.2 million students in the United States and Canada drop out of high school each year (with the percentages skewed toward males, low-income and minority students). Millions more are considered at-risk because they exhibit ongoing disciplinary problems, impulsive behavior, truancy issues and have become frustrated or disengaged. The long-term cost of failing to engage these students is tremendous, since they are much less likely to transition successfully into adulthood and to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Join us in Atlanta to gain valuable insights and to explore practical ways to help this critical portion of your school’s population. REGISTER NOW!
